Onyx Power is committed to providing a reliable supply of electricity and heat in Germany and the Netherlands. With an installed generation capacity of around 3.1 gigawatts, our power stations make a significant contribution to the stability of the European energy system.

At the same time, the energy sector is undergoing fundamental change. That is why we combine the safe operation of our existing plants with the gradual further development of our sites. Our aim is to expand Onyx Power into an integrated European energy platform that combines security of supply, economic viability and new forms of energy generation.

Security of supply

A stable energy supply requires that electricity and heat are available in sufficient quantities at all times – even when wind and solar energy are not available to meet demand. Our modern and highly efficient power stations help to safeguard this supply.

At our sites, we do not only generate electricity for households, industry and public infrastructure. We also provide district heating and, amongst other things, supply electricity for the German train network. In doing so, we are constantly working to improve the efficiency of our plants and operational processes, to use resources as efficiently as possible and to reduce our environmental impact.

Growth through the further development of our sites

Our sites are equipped with valuable energy infrastructure: high-capacity grid connections, existing generation facilities, skilled staff and links to the respective regions that have developed over decades. We intend to leverage these advantages to develop new projects and secure the long-term future of our sites. In doing so, we pursue a bespoke approach for each site, tailored to its specific technical and regional conditions.

Strategic development of Onyx Power

In addition to organic growth at our existing sites, we also aim to strengthen our position in the European energy market. Through the targeted integration and further development of companies from our owner’s portfolio, we are creating a more efficient and diversified energy company.

The integration of the Datteln 4 power station is an important step in this direction. By pooling expertise, facilities and infrastructure, we are creating synergies that enable more efficient collaboration and the development of further projects.

Step by step towards tomorrow's energy supply

The transformation of the energy system is a long-term project. It requires new technologies, a reliable regulatory framework and, at the same time, a secure energy supply throughout the transition.

Onyx Power therefore combines the responsible operation of its existing plants with investment in storage technologies, hydrogen-compatible generation capacity and other forward-looking energy solutions. In this way, we aim to further develop our sites, safeguard jobs and energy sector expertise, and continue to make a reliable contribution to the supply of electricity and heat in the future.
